The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has updated its questions and answers (Q&A) on practical questions regarding the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and published updated validation rules following the publication of the revised technical standards on reporting under Article 9 of EMIR. Both of these new documents will be applicable from 1 November 2017.
The revised RTS and ITS on reporting under Article 9 of EMIR include a number of provisions that had previously been covered in ESMA Q&As. With the release of the revised RTS and ITS many of these questions will now become obsolete. In order to facilitate smooth and well-informed preparation for the implementation of the revised standards, ESMA has included the updated versions of those questions in the Q&A, indicating that they will become applicable from 1 November 2017, together with the revised technical standards.
The new validation rules reflect the changing field requirements set out in the revised RTS and ITS.
