The investment management landscape is changing. Recent studies confirm that today there is more investment in equities than ever before. That investment is spread more globally, and it is increasingly being channeled into passive-type approaches, with indexed and ETF vehicles burgeoning. For investment management organizations (IMs), this changing landscape has impacted development of business models and strategies and driven consolidation in the industry. These trends merit consideration overall. Where global shareholding disclosures (GSD) compliance is concerned, these changes are compounding the challenges investment managers (IMs) face to meet complex requirements globally, with some pressures building up out of sight. At the same time, regulators are paying much closer attention to the accuracy of GSD reporting worldwide.
