LEIROC – announced a program to promote the use of globally harmonized Unique Product Identifier (UPI)

April 26, 2021 – LEIROC and the Derivatives Service Bureau (DSB) announced a joint program to promote awareness of use of the globally harmonized unique product identifier (UPI).

Background
DSB currently developing UPI service as part of its function as an issuer of UPI codes and operator of the UPI reference library expects to issue UPIs for OTCs from July 2022. UPI will uniquely identify products involved in OTC derivatives transactions reported to trade repositories, deliver a key objective of G20 reforms of OTC derivatives markets.

UPI Awareness
In order to help firms prepare for UPI issuance, LEIROC and DSB are to hold three industry sessions to provide an overview of the service, answer any outstanding questions. Planned to take place on May 25, June 8, and on a date in the fourth quarter of 2021. All interested parties may now register for the May and June UPI reporting sessions.
