BCBS – Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) publishes work program for 2021-22

August 5, 2021 – Basel issued work program of Committee on payments and market infrastructures (CPMI) for the first time as part of the committee’s commitment to increased transparency. Follows Basel April 2021 issued work program and priorities for 2021-22. Focus on shaping future of payments, addressing financial market infrastructure risks.

Work Program:
Program outlines the strategic priorities for CPMI’s monitoring and analysis, policy, and standard-setting and implementation activities, under following 2 overarching themes. Shaping the future of payments: to include enhancing cross-border payments, policy issues arising from digital innovations in payments and central bank digital currencies. Ongoing monitoring of changing trends in payments, will also be a part of this work. Evaluating and addressing risks in financial market infrastructures: will work on issues re central clearing, others that emerged, were accentuated during COVID pandemic.
