BCBS – Eighteenth progress report on adoption of the Basel regulatory framework

Overview

The report includes the status of adoption of the Basel III risk-based capital standards, the leverage ratio, the standards for global and domestic systemically important banks (GSIB and DSIB), interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), the large exposures framework and the disclosure requirements.

Progress

Since previous report progress by member jurisdictions in implementing standards whose deadlines have passed, despite financial stability priorities related to Covid-19. 21 member jurisdictions issued final rules for capital requirements for bank exposures to central counterparties and standard on interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB). 23 issued final rules to standardize approach re counterparty credit risk exposures. 22 issued draft/final rules for requirements for total loss-absorbing capacity (TLAC) holdings, and 26 issued draft or final rules for the large exposure (LEX) framework. Progress has also been made in implementing rules that are yet to come into effect.
