EBA Outlines Roadmap to Strengthen Monitoring of ECAIs and Amends Decision for the Assignment of Risk Weights for certain ECAIs

The EBA has published its future work plan on credit assessments issued by External Credit Assessment Institutions (ECAIs). The EBA plans to strengthen the monitoring and quality of the mapping of ECAIs’ credit assessments, used for the determination of capital requirements. The EBA has also published an amended Decision verifying the quality of unsolicited credit assessments assigned by certain ECAIs. The revised decision is part of the Single Rulebook and will ensure regulatory harmonisation across the EU regarding the use of unsolicited credit ratings for determining institutions’ own funds requirements.
